Why Does My Computer Show Less Capacity?

The usable storage shown by an operating system may appear lower than the capacity stated on the drive.

Storage manufacturers use decimal measurements when specifying capacity, while operating systems can calculate and display storage differently. Formatting and system information can also use some space.

This is normal for SSDs and other storage devices.
