A newly installed SSD may not immediately appear in File Explorer. New drives may first need to be initialised, partitioned and formatted using your operating system’s disk management utility.
Why Does Windows Show Less Storage?
It is normal for the usable capacity displayed by your computer to appear lower than the capacity advertised on the SSD.
Storage manufacturers typically specify capacity using decimal measurements, while operating systems may calculate or display storage differently. Formatting and system data can also affect the usable capacity shown.
This is normal and does not mean storage is missing from the drive.
